A Presidential Campaign
The Presidents of the United States of America just so happened to release their newest album, These Are The Good Times People, on an election year. So naturally, we put together a presidential-themed promo campaign that pitted the band members against each other in a race to become the new president of The Presidents of the United States of America. Who won? Ultimately, the fans.
Working with acclaimed Seattle advertising agency, Wexley School for Girls, we produced campaign video spots that showcased the candidates strengths and why they should be the new leader of the Presidents. The spots were showcased on our campaign website, PUSA2008.org, that mimicked the look and feel of the campaign websites of the day. We also created an Action Center that gave fans tools to help spread the word about the band’s new album online and beyond.
Taking advantage of the band’s strong Seattle hometown following, we barraged the city with promotional material including campaign lawn signs, t-shirts, bumper stickers, murals, and buttons and even gathered testimonials from some of Seattle’s most influential political leaders, including current King County Executive, Dow Konstantine.
In no time, the promotion felt like a living, breathing political campaign and we succeeded in getting the attention of the local media and re-energized a fan base that not seen a new album from PUSA in almost four years.
